Fleur de Mets takes part in Duoday 2023 for the second time

Once again this year, Fleur de Mets took part in the national DuoDay scheme, now in its 6th year, a day of inclusion and collaboration at work, which took place throughout France on November 23.

The principle behind DuoDay: the company welcomes a disabled person, in a duo with a volunteer professional. The day’s program includes job discovery, active participation and company immersion.

This global initiative, aimed at promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market, is a unique opportunity for employers and people with disabilities to work together and promote a more inclusive society.

This day is an opportunity to change our outlook and, together, overcome our prejudices.

It’s easier to disintegrate an atom than a prejudice – Albert EINSTEIN

Shaking things up, together

It’s a day to meet new people, create vocations and opportunities for future collaborations because employment is vectors of inclusion.  This is simply a first step towards “transforming the trial”..
Focus on the Fleur de Mets Duoday by Mehdi & Assetou

Mehdi, cocktail chef at Fleur de Mets.

Mehdi, why did you volunteer to welcome Assetou to your team?

“I’d never worked with people with physical or mental disabilities before, and I wanted to experience it both to really realize the professional qualities that a person like Assetou can bring to the company, and maybe also to see how I function and how to adapt my management.”

Can you tell us in a few words what you introduced Assetou to during this Duoday?

“Assetou spent the day in the kitchen, at the cocktail station. She worked successively with several team members on operations such as working with scallops, poaching cabbage or preparing upstream pieces (de-filming the product).”

And how did the day turn out?

“Assetou has undeniable integration and adaptation skills. She has demonstrated qualities such as perseverance and meticulousness in the tasks assigned. She was appreciated by the team!”

Assetou, why did you volunteer?

“Because I want to retrain in the kitchen trades. Today I work in an Esat but I’d like to join a company in a mainstream environment.”

How would you sum up the day?

“I’m delighted with the experience, I was very well received and I’d like to continue with an internship at Fleur de Mets in production!”
